South Coast: Volcanoes, waterfalls & Viking dinner at the Viking house
The South Coast of Iceland is where Vikings arrived and everything was covered with forests. Now everything is just covered with spectacular nature.
No forests but black sand beaches, glaciers, waterfalls, islands and not to mention all the food it has to offer. On this South Coast tour you get to taste all of the best that Iceland has to offer in one day. Come and have a real taste of where the Vikings lived, how they lived and what they eat.

The tour starts with a pick up from Reykjavik at your hotel, guesthouse or one of the bus stops downtown(see a list of pick ups here). The pick up is between 10:30 and 11:00. This gives you a little bit extra time to sleep on your vacation.
First stop on this trip is the iconic waterfall, Seljalandsfoss. It offers a spectacular view of the forces and beauty of untouched nature. You can walk behind it and on sunny days a rainbow shows up.
Skógafoss waterfall is next. You can walk all the way on top of it and see the water fall down the waterfall. An old story says there is a gold hidden underneath the waterfall. If you find it, you will get 10% cut 🙂
A short drive from Skogafoss is the Black Sand Beach/Reynisfjara. Black sand beach which connects island to another island, troll out in the ocean, powerful volcano with a glacier on top of it, basaltic cliffs on the side of a mountain and the power of North Atlantic ocean. This place has it all.
On the way back to Reykjavik, a stop at Ingólfsskáli Viking house will be made for a true Viking dinner! This is a real Viking house and everything inside is handmade. The owner – Gunnar which is an old Viking name – will serve this small group and tell great stories about Iceland food traditions. Get a taste of Icelandic fish, lamb, goose, trout, salmon, shark & Icelandic spirit. But the experience of being inside there and eating like a real Viking is what makes all of it so unique. Gunnar and his son, Andri have put a lot of effort in making every single detail in this house absolutely perfect.
If you are wondering how to dress for this tour, we always send out emails the day before how the weather is going to be. But we highly recommend bringing a rain gear to Iceland. Does not matter the time of the year.
In winter, bring rain gear and also warm clothes, cap and gloves.
You do not need to bring a Viking costume or helmet for this tour. But you can do so if you want to 🙂 But the most important thing to bring, is your smile 🙂
We look forward seeing you on the tour.
